User Experience Intern

Working from our headquarters in Cambridge, MA, our interdisciplinary team of software engineers, scientists, and designers are merging the tools and techniques of genomics, data mining & analytics, semantic reasoning, and cloud computing. Genospace has built a comprehensive platform for genomic and other biomedical data. We serve research, clinical development, pathology and clinical care customers who work with high-dimensional genomic and other biomedical data. Many of the most advanced precision medicine organizations are powered by Genospace.

What You’ll Do:
Genospace is looking for a User Experience Intern who is creative and passionate about understanding the user and designing intuitive experiences.
As a User Experience Intern you will gain an understanding of how to design tools that further new discovery in the treatment of disease. More specifically, you will help shape the user experience across the Genospace product ecosystem. Initially the intern will learn and apply contextual user research methods and analysis to gain a better understanding of Genospace user groups and their tasks. The User Experience Intern will also assist in designing user flows, UI mockups and interactive prototypes.
What We’re Looking For:
Genospace expects that the intern will have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy interacting with a diverse group of stakeholders both within Genospace and with external users. An ideal candidate will have an impressive portfolio of user research and UX design, be proficient in tools such as Sketch and Adobe CC, and have a keen interest in user research/testing. A background in biology or life sciences is a plus. You will work full time with the UX team and work on an individual project for the duration of the internship.
Education & Background:
- Current undergraduate or graduate students
- No prior experience in life sciences is required but ample curiosity and a willingness to learn are a must
